Bell Tolls in Haridwar - Day 2 -Rebirth

Reached haridwar at around 5.00 am, railway station was horribly crowded , that gave a feeling that we are at wrong time , got out and got into cycle rikshaw and headed towards Har-ki-Pauri, it was about 1 km from Railway staion.
Hari-ki-pauri
Hari-ki-pauri is considered as the most sacred and auspicious point to bathe in the Ganga, It is also known as bhrahma-kund.
ghat was too crowded , current in ganga was high, iron chains were fixed on the bank ..
closed eyes and hold on the chain and took holly dip in the ash colored ice cold water , suppose to be a rebirth , sins might have washed away..
wanted to stay there for long , but trip-plan didn't allow us to stay there . we came back and caught rikshaw to rishikesh (26km from haridwar) our room were booked in advance with Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN)'s rishilok guest house, rooms were decent and clean it got a good restaurant too.
we checked in around 7:30 and started exploring rishikesh in next half an hour.

Bell Tolls in Haridwar- Day 1- Karim's

Started from office at 2:30 pm , got bus and reached air port around 3:20pm. My flight was at 5:00 pm , it was on time and reached delhi at 7:30. My friend was waiting there, we headed towards karim hotel (an old restaurant which mentioned in mukundan's delhi) .
(Click on this image to know more about karim's)
It was behind jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, there were lots of small restaurants in that street , air was filled with aroma of grilled thandoor and kababs, food was good but the hype made me to order more items and left a good part of it uneaten. After dinner we went to nissamudheen where we had to catch train to haridwar at 12.00 am.

Bell Tolls in Haridwar - Introduction

I was planning to write on my trips for a long time, but laziness was not allowing me to concentrate more on this. one day my friend asked me about my north indian trip, I just gatherd information and send it as a word document, this one is the expansion of that document.
Firstly I thank god who allows me to travel and make my mind to decide on these great places. Haridwar was not in my list, but varanasi plan led to me Haridwar .
I was happened to be in kolkata for couple of days last year , it was on the way from shillong to bangalore , I didnt get direct flight , my connection flight was from kolkata . so I booked a ticket two days later from there, kolkata was totally new to me , hotel booking had done before, other than that the travel was not planned well, So I spend most of the time by roaming alone in streets . I told about the slums and people who lives in streets in kolkata to one of my friend, he suggested me to visit varanasi , to experience totally different world of human life.
The urge to visit varanasi begins from here, one of my friend was in delhi i told him about varansi trip, he was quite interested , but we could not find a matching time and he was bit busy with his tight work schedule too. then we thought about places which can be covered from delhi over a weekend and finally decided on haridwar.
This was one of the well planned trip, none of my trips were planned like this , every hour was planned . So a good part of thrill got lost by following a printed trip plan, at the same time it helped me to include some good eat-outs to quench my gastronomic lust too.
